EXCLUSIVE: Bhumi Pednekar recalls falling during her debut stage performance in front of Saif Ali Khan, says, “Audience hasi but mere liye…”

Bhumi Pednekar made her debut in Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015), which earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. She rose to prominence by starring in films Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017), Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2017), Bala (2019) and Pati Patni Aur Woh (2019). In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Bhumi Pednekar recalls falling on stage in UP and calls it a funny moment of her life.

Talking about any tragic moment that became funny in life, Bhumi Pednekar shared, “Meri life main toh bahut often hoti reheti hai. Mere saath live stage pe hua hai. So first-time main live stage pe thi, Arjun bhi that wahan pe. Hum log UP main huge crowd ke beech the, samjh lo 25 se 30 hazar logo ke beech main the. My first live stage performance where I was hosting with Ayushmann Khurrana during Dum Laga Ke Haisha. Aur hume Saif sir (Saif Ali Khan) ke saath ek interaction karni thi, it was the song Ole Ole. Maine kiya and by the fourth Ole I fell. And puri audience thi ofcourse woh sab hasi, mere liye woh comedy bilkul nahi tha. But inside it’s funny”.

Dum Laga Ke Haisha, released internationally as My Big Fat Bride, is a 2015 Indian Hindi-language romantic comedy-drama film written and directed by Sharat Katariya, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar (in her feature film debut), Sanjay Mishra and Seema Pahwa in the lead roles. The film’s background score is composed by Italian composer Andrea Guerra. The film was released on 27 February 2015 to good critical reception. Box Office India stated that the film collected ₹42 crore (US$4.9 million) domestically after a five-week run.[10] The film celebrated 50 days of its theatrical run on 16 April 2015. The film’s final worldwide gross was ₹71.85 crore (US$8.3 million).
